Persistent rains provide localized street flooding
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - For the most part, it has consistently rained from Wednesday afternoon all the way into Thursday afternoon. This includes rain showers moving across the region throughout the late night, overnight, and early morning hours. All of this rainfall has continued to collect and produce street flooding across the roads.
Rainfall totals have been impressive for the entire region. Most regions are seeing between a half inch to an entire inch of rain in the past 24 hours. There are even a few local areas that are seeing up to an inch and a half of rain.
As a result, a few cars are having trouble getting through these areas. This is because these flood waters are reaching up to their bumper. Overall, officials advise us to just avoid these areas and seek a detour.
Slick roads are also a good side effect from the rains. Numerous road accidents have been reported this morning across east Idaho and western WY.
