Volunteers needed for National Public Lands Day
SALMON, Idaho (KIFI) — The Salmon-Challis National Forest, Salmon Valley Stewardship, and Student Conservation Association are seeking volunteers for the nation's largest single-day event for public lands.
Volunteers will join these partners on tread work and brushing along the Continental Divide Trail at Big Hole Pass.
Volunteers will contribute to the work done by trail crews throughout the summer in this area.
Volunteers should meet Forest Service staff and partners at 8:00 a.m. on Sept. 24 at the North Fork Ranger District office to carpool up to the worksite. Alternatively, volunteers can camp the night before near Big Hole Pass and be ready to go by 9:00 a.m. at the pass.
No trail work experience needed. Wear closed-toed shoes and work clothes. Bring a full water bottle and your enthusiasm for spending a day giving back to our public lands. Lunch, personal protective equipment (PPE), tools and extra water provided.
A safety orientation will kick off at 9:00 a.m. at Big Hole Pass and trail work will last until noon with lunch to follow.
