Idaho Falls YMCA celebrating 175th anniversary


IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – The Idaho Falls YMCA is celebrating the 175th anniversary of the organization's operations in the United States with a ribbon cutting today at 11:30 AM. and a community luncheon.

For more than 80 years, the Idaho Falls YMCA has been providing youth programs, child care, fitness and community development opportunities for family in the region.

“This celebration is about honoring the history of the YMCA while also looking forward to
what comes next,” said marketing specialist Kim Schofield in a release. “We are incredibly grateful for
the generations of families, members, volunteers, staff, donors, and community partners
who have supported the Y. As we continue to grow, our focus remains on strengthening the
community and creating spaces where everyone belongs.”

The YMCA is also investing in its facilities.

It has raised $160,000 out of $250,000 to install new turf and HVAC upgrades at its Ammon indoor sports arena.

It also is preparing to launch a capital campaign to construct a new building.
