Idaho Foodbank working to alleviate hunger in Hope for the Holidays campaign

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - At the beginning of November, The Idaho Foodbank kicked off their Hope for the Holidays campaign.

This campaign runs through November and December, with the goal to provide food for four million meals.

Unfortunately for many Idaho families, the winter season brings additional financial stress. This can make the holidays less joyful for those struggling to make ends meet.

With the support of the community, the Idaho Foodbank is working to allow everyone, regardless of their current financial situation, to have a holiday meal and nutritious food on the table throughout the season.

For those hoping to help, there are events and activities happening across Idaho during the Hope for the Holidays campaign. This includes activities that make everyday tasks, such as buying your groceries, fueling up your car, or shopping for gifts a way to support the Idaho Foodbank and your community.

“The holidays are a challenging time for our neighbors who are facing food insecurity,” said President and CEO of The Idaho Foodbank Randy Ford. “The support from businesses and community members all over Idaho are vital to our mission to end hunger in Idaho.”

Statewide activities during the campaign include the Albertsons Feeding joy campaign and Stinker Stores Stomp Out Hunger.  In addition to these statewide activities, there are events in each region of Idaho.

Cranksgiving, sponsored by Barrie’s Ski and Sports; Give the Cops a Bird; and the ISU and U of I Tackling Hunger Together events are all opportunities for communities in eastern Idaho to help their neighbors in need receive a holiday meal.
