BYU-Idaho sign graffiti cleaned up, Rexburg Police investigate
REXBURG, Idaho (KIFI) — An unknown vandal defaced a sign adjacent to the Jacob Spori building on the BYU-Idaho campus Sunday. In black spray paint, they wrote the words, "I WON'T REPENT FOR THIS, B****. DON'T NEED TO."
According to Brett Crandall, University Public Affairs Director, crews removed the graffiti from the sign Tuesday morning.
An initial article about this incident appeared in the student newspaper, BYU-I Scroll. Current and past students reacted to the vandalism on the newspaper's Instagram page.
"I wish they can find the person and that the situation may be handled in accordance to their circumstances," writes Iride Gonzalez Suarez, a BYU-I graduate.
The Rexburg Police Department is heading up an investigation into the incident and others in the area. The sidewalk in front of the Rexburg Broulim's and siding at the American Avenue Apartments were also defaced. If you have any information that may help in this investigation, contact the Rexburg PD.
Requests to the department for surveillance video that may show a possible suspect remain unanswered.
