3 things to know this morning – August 14, 2023

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - Here's what you should know to start your Monday.

1. A 22-year old man from Rexburg is dead after a head-on crash on US-20 Friday afternoon. Idaho State Police say a Honda Accord traveling eastbound lost control, drove through the median into westbound traffic, and struck a Nissan Murano. The driver of the Nissan was killed and the passenger was taken to the hospital.

2. Starting today, the Idaho Transportation Department will be repaving the 17 mile stretch from Pine Haven Drive North to Island Park Lodge. The highway will be reduced to one lane in alternating shifts. They expect work to take place from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m.

3. Idaho Governor Brad Little announced the appointment of Mathew Weaver as the new Idaho Department of Water Resources Director. He has served as the Deputy Director and the Rules and Regulation Officer of I.D.W.R. For a decade. Weaver replaces Gary Spackman who is retiring after 14 years of service.
