Sports Line High School Football Preview Series: Idaho Falls Tigers
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - 2022 is a year of change for the Idaho Falls Tigers, as Idaho Falls drops to 4A and the Tigers lost nearly two dozen seniors from last year's team.
Head Coach Marty Duffin said the change in conference, though, doesn't alter the challenge of winning this season.
"There is not that big of a adjustment," Duffin said. "Because even last year when we were 5A, we still played a lot of the 4A teams. And if you look at 4A here in southeast Idaho, it's tough. There are so many good teams, from Skyline to Poky, everybody in between this year is pretty good."
It's tough for any team to replace graduated seniors, but it's especially difficult for Idaho Falls, because the Tigers lost 23 players from last year's squad due to graduation.
"Any time that you lose as many seniors as we did last year, it's a challenge," Duffin said. "But our junior class has really stepped up. We've had some additional kids come out that have helped, and they're working hard."
Idaho Falls begins its season Aug. 26th when the Tigers host the first game on the new Ravsten Stadium turf against Thunder Ridge.
The High School Football Preview Series wraps up Thursday with the Skyline Grizzlies.
