Week starts off warm and dry with fire concerns rising midweek

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI)- Warmer and drier conditions will develop as the new week starts. Monday will see highs reaching 70s in the mountains and 80s in the valleys. It will get even warmer on Tuesday when there will also be critically dry humidity levels and a pickup in gusty winds.

A lake wind advisory is in place for American Falls Reservoir until 9pm Sunday night. The winds will let up overnight. Sunday night will be mostly clear with the low around 45. The winds will become calm overnight.

The warm-up will begin on Monday with the high near 81 under sunny skies. It will gradually become partly cloudy with the overnight low around 52.

Around Tuesday is when the fire danger concerns pick up. The highs will increase to near 89. The winds will pick up in the afternoon to 15 to 20 mph with gusts as high as 32 mph. It will also be very dry. Humidity levels will reach critically low levels making for potentially critical fire danger conditions. The low will be around 56.

Those fire concerns will still persist into Wednesday, which is expected to be even drier than Tuesday. Gusty winds will also make a return for Wednesday afternoon. The high will be near 85 with sunny skies. A clear night will bring a low around 47.

The winds should let up with the dry and warm conditions lasting through the week before another system moves in for the weekend.
