Colder temps with scattered snow and rain for Thursday

A colder area of low pressure is working down from the northwest. This colder low will drop the jet stream further to our south, allowing for colder weather to settle into eastern Idaho and western Wyoming. Overnight lows will drop to the mid 30’s across the Plain. There will be scattered snow and rain showers throughout the region, taking us into Thursday morning. Winds overnight, will drive in from the southwest around 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph.

For Thursday, expect scattered rain and snow for the morning. Thunderstorms are possible in the afternoon. Colder conditions, with high temperatures in the mid 40’s More from the southwest around 20 to 25 mph increasing to 25 to 35 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph. This Thursday night, snow is likely, mainly before midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low temperature around 28°. Breezy, with a southwest wind around 15 to 25 mph.

Mostly sunny and warmer for Friday with a high temperature in the lower 50’s. Southwest winds around 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

  • WHAT…West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.
  • WHERE…Teton Valley, Eastern Magic Valley, Shoshone/Lava Beds,
    Arco/Mud Lake Desert, Lower Snake River Plain, Raft River Region,
    Southern Hills/Albion Mountains, and Upper Snake River Plain.
  • WHEN…From 8 AM to 9 PM MDT Thursday.
  • IMPACTS…Gusty winds could make driving difficult, especially for
    high profile vehicles. Unsecured objects may be blown around.
