Hot for Friday ahead of a few showers for Saturday

With high pressure moving to our south for Friday, we’ll look for warmer temperatures with highs near 90°. For Saturday We’ll replace our high-pressure system with a weak low-pressure system, which will deliver a chance of showers and thunderstorms. As a result, the National Weather Service has issued a Fire Weather Watch for Saturday, in anticipation of gusty winds and potential lightning strikes.

Overnight, mostly cloudy through early Friday morning. A low temperature around 50° for the Snake River Plain, with winds around 10-15 mph.

On Friday, look for partly cloudy skies with a slight chance of evening thunderstorms. High temperatures in the Snake River Plain will be around 90°. Winds will be out of the southwest around 10-15 mph.

Friday Night will be mostly cloudy, with a low temperature around 60°. South winds will be around 5 to 10 mph.

For Saturday, there is a chance of rain and thunderstorms. High temperatures will reach the upper 70’s to lower 80’s. Winds will be increasing for the afternoon with speeds around 15-25 mph. On Saturday night, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm, then a chance of rain between 9pm and midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 49°.

FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH
SATURDAY EVENING FOR SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS:

The National Weather Service in Pocatello has issued a Fire Weather Watch for scattered thunderstorms, which is in effect from Saturday morning through Saturday evening.

  • IMPACTS…Critical fire weather conditions are expected Saturday. Lightning may generate new fire starts. Any new fire starts or existing fires may spread rapidly.
  • THUNDERSTORMS…20 to 40 percent coverage.
  • OUTFLOW WINDS…Stronger storms will be capable of producing wind gusts up to 45 mph.
