Christmas tree permits available at southwest Idaho BLM offices Nov. 15-Dec. 24

BOISE, Idaho (KIFI) —The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is issuing Christmas tree permits Nov. 15-Dec. 24.

The permits allow for members of the public to harvest up to three Christmas trees on BLM-managed public lands in southwestern Idaho.   

Over the counter sales of Christmas tree permits are available for $10 at the BLM Owyhee and Four Rivers field offices Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Online permits can be purchased at forestproducts.blm.gov and are only valid for lands managed by Owyhee or Four Rivers field offices. 

Please observe the following rules when harvesting trees:  

• Do not cut within 50 feet of a dry stream course or within 100 feet of a live stream or shoreline. 
• Do not cut within 300 feet of a designated Scenic Byway. 
• Do not cut trees on BLM lands designated as Wilderness, Wilderness Study Areas (WSA), or Areas of Critical Environmental Concern (ACEC). 
• The cutting of trees greater than 20 feet in height is prohibited.
