Ski resorts get ready for winter season
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) - With snow showers likely soon across our mountains, ski season is coming up. Many resorts are prepping up the hills and lifts over the next few weeks.
Evan Thomason talked with some local ski resorts to see how they could help our families afford their resort.
Snow King and Jackson Hole out in the western Wyoming Tetons say they have full day deals around $100 that could be even cheaper if you book the tickets before the season begins.
More affordable options can be found out in eastern Idaho and the Magic Valley with day tickets as low as $50.
For those looking to go on several days, all resorts hold season passes where anyone can ski all winter long.
There are even a few resorts that have family package deals that contain multiple season passes that are cheaper when they put together.
Kelly Canyon for example combines both lift tickets and ski rentals within their deal for families.
"I helped a family the other day at bills and it was a family of six, and so if their season pass and their equivalent for the entire year was under $3,000. So six of them are going to ski unlimited on our resort," Doug Swanson said. "It's I think it's a fantastic deal and a great place for a family to be."
One of the coolest ways to find some deals is some very special particular days in winter. For example, Jackson Hole is going for a world record for the most amount of skiers wearing jeans, which if you're a skier, you know, that's not comfortable. So for that day, if you wear jeans, guess what? It's only $25 to go up the mountain on Dec. 9.
