Gala held to honor those 100 years old and older

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - Celebrating life at any age is a special occasion, especially when the number is 100.  

Today, Lincoln Court Independent Assisted Living and Memory Care hosted their first annual Centenarian Gala. It honored those whose three-digit-year life means more than just a number.

"They're the people who built our community, they're the people who built our country, and so we want to honor them," said Lincoln Court executive director, Matthew Johnson. 

Margaret Plastino, who turns 102 later this month was one of the gala's honored guests. 

"It feels absolutely fabulous," said Plastino.

Plastino was recently celebrated in Boise for her title as the oldest living registered nurse in Idaho, she helped others for 80 years.

"The nursing profession was my love," said Plastino.

Eight centenarians in our area were celebrated with an award ceremony, lunch, and slide show about each of the honored guest's lives, 4 of them attended the gala. 

"Age is still life and you should live it to the fullest," said Plastino.

For those of us old and young, Plastino shares her wise words of wisdom, "Be good to everybody else and help them along the way if possible."
