Police identify human remains found in Portneuf River
UPDATE August 14, 2024: POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - Pocatello Police have identified the skeletal remains found in the Portneuf River on July 13, 2024.
Pocatello Police said in a news release they remains were identified using DNA technology and the efforts of several agencies.
The said the investigation is ongoing, and currently, no foul play is suspected.
Because of the ongoing investigation, they will not release the person's name. They have notified the family.
Pocatello Police worked with the Bannock County Coroner's office, the Ada County Coroner’s Office, the Bingham County Sheriff’s Office, the Bingham County Search and Rescue’s Swift Water Team, and the Idaho State Police’s Forensic Service to identify the body.

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) - Pocatello Police are investigating a decomposed body found in the Portneuf River on Saturday, July 13.
Police said the body was found by an individual in the river on the Pacific Steel and Recycling Trailhead.
The body was removed by the Bingham County Search and Rescue Dive and Water Rescue team.
An autopsy will be conducted to help identify and determine the cause of death.
