Multi–vehicle crash halts traffic on Yellowstone Highway
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI) – (UPDATE) – The following is a press release from the Idaho State Police.
Bonneville County, Idaho – Idaho State Police is investigating a three-vehicle injury crash on US26 at E 49th N, east of Idaho Falls. The crash occurred on January 9, 2025, at approximately 2:18 p.m.
A black Cadillac XT5, driven by a 44-year-old-female from Idaho Falls, was driving eastbound on E 49th N. A commercial semi was driving westbound and was attempting to turn onto westbound E 49th N, blocking the view of the Cadillac driver. A green Toyota 4Runner driven by a 34-year-old-male from Rigby, ID, was driving westbound in lane one. The black Cadillac was then struck by the green Toyota causing it to lose control. The Toyota then went into eastbound lanes striking a gray Ford Escape driven by a 49-year-old-female from Ammon, ID.
The Ford driver was transported to a local hospital via ground ambulance. All occupants were wearing seat belts.
The westbound lanes were blocked for approximately one hour as emergency responders worked to clear the area.
This incident remains under investigation by Idaho State Police. ISP was assisted by Idaho Transportation Department, Idaho Falls EMS and Fire.
(Original Post) - All the driving lanes on Yellowstone Highway were closed following an accident involving multiple vehicles.
The accident happened near the intersection of 49th North and Yellowstone Highway around 2:20 p.m. Thursday.
It is currently unclear how many vehicles were involved, but when Local News 8 arrived, three vehicles were being cleaned up.
There is still no information on any injuries.
