Some showers holding on ahead of drier, warmer week

KIFI

IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (KIFI)- Lingering showers will fall in portions of east Idaho Sunday night and into Monday. Mostly the central mountains and areas north of Idaho Falls. Storms could bring gusty winds and chilly overnight temps to those affected areas. Warmer weather and mainly dry for midweek and beyond.

The overnight lows for Sunday night will dip down in the mid 30's, especially for the northern portions of the Snake River Plain. Some areas that are typically colder may want to err of the side of caution and cover your plants.

Another round of showers and thunderstorms are expected Monday for the central mountains, the Upper Valley, and Southeast Highlands. Most of east Idaho should stay mostly dry with sunny skies and a high near 68. Partly cloudy overnight with a low around 41.

Seasonable conditions for Tuesday with sunny skies and a high around 73, which is about average for what we should be this time of year. A breeze will develop with gusts up to 20 mph. Mostly clear overnight with a low near 43.

The rest of the week will bring above average temperatures with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s and lows in the mid to upper 40s. Dry conditions should take hold through the week for the Snake River Plain. Another system will arrive late Wednesday into Thursday with isolated to scattered showers possible, mainly in the northern portion of the region.
