Wind, Scattered Rain and Cooler Temperatures

Low pressure with a cold front enters the region for Saturday. There is the potential for severe thunderstorms, especially in extreme southeastern Idaho. Temperatures will be cooler for both Saturday and Sunday, with most of the wet weather clearing by Sunday.

For Saturday, we'll see scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly before 3pm. Cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high temperature near 75° for the Snake River Plain. Southwest winds will be around 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. There is a possibility of severe wind gusts from thunderstorms. On Saturday night there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 4am, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 4am and 5am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5am. Mostly cloudy, with a low temperature around 52°. South winds around 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%.

For Sunday, there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms early in the day, with clearing skies for the afternoon. High temperatures will reach the lower 70's for the Snake River Plain. Winds will be from the southwest around 15 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.

There is a slight chance of thunderstorms for Monday afternoon with high temperatures in the upper 70's.

• WHERE…Portions of central, northwest, and west central Wyoming,
  including the following areas, in central Wyoming, Wind River
  Mountains West. In northwest Wyoming, Absaroka Mountains, Jackson
  Hole, Teton and Gros Ventre Mountains and Yellowstone National
  Park. In west central Wyoming, Salt River and Wyoming Ranges and
  Star Valley.
• WHEN…From 6 PM MDT this evening through Sunday morning.
• IMPACTS…Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
• ADDITIONAL DETAILS…
• Increased moisture from the Pacific will move across northwest
  Wyoming through the weekend, bringing an extended chance for
  showers and thunderstorms. The increased moisture will have the
  potential to produce locally heavy rainfall, providing excessive
  runoff in flood-prone and low-lying areas.
