Frost advisory posted for Tuesday morning; calmer and warmer weather through Wednesday

In the wake of a weekend cold front, we’re seeing cold temperatures overnight. The National Weather Service has issued a Frost Advisory for the Snake River Plain. As we move into Tuesday afternoon, look for lighter winds and warmer temperatures. We have a risk of showers and thunderstorms later this week.

For Monday night, look for mostly clear skies. Overnight lows in the Snake River Plain will drop to the mid 30’s. Winds will be light around 5-10 mph.

FROST ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 3 AM TO 9 AM MDT TUESDAY:

• WHAT…Temperatures as low as 34 will result in frost formation.
• WHERE…Shoshone/Lava Beds, Arco/Mud Lake Desert, Lower Snake River Plain, and Upper Snake River Plain.
• WHEN…From 3 AM to 9 AM MDT Tuesday.
• IMPACTS…Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.

For Tuesday, it will be sunny with high temperatures reaching the mid 70’s. Winds will be light around 5-10 mph.

Sunny for Wednesday with high temperatures reaching near 80°.

For Wednesday night, there is a chance of rain after midnight. Partly cloudy, with a low around 50°.

There is a chance of rain and thunderstorms for Thursday. High temperatures will reach the mid to upper 70’s. Winds will be around 10-15 mph, with gusts around 25 mph. Scattered showers will continue into Thursday night. Overnight lows will drop to the upper 40’s and lower 50’s.

There is a slight chance of rain for Friday, with partly cloudy skies. High temperatures will reach the lower 70’s.
