Pocatello shuts out Century 13-0, deals blow to Diamondbacks’ playoff hopes

POCATELLO, Idaho (KIFI) — Pocatello played spoiler Friday night, shutting out Century 13-0 in rainy conditions and dealing a major blow to the Diamondbacks' playoff hopes.

Entering the night ranked 14th in the 5A MaxPreps rankings, Century needed a victory and help from other teams to climb into the 12-team state tournament field.

Pocatello took a 7-0 lead into halftime before quarterback Rhev Stucki connected with Caden Butterfield for another touchdown. Century blocked the extra point, keeping the score at 13-0.

The Thunder defense dominated throughout the night, with Spencer Kent recovering a fumble and Dreyson Williams recording an interception.

The loss leaves Century facing a near impossible battle to qualify for the postseason, while Pocatello, which entered the night ranked 16th, closes its regular season with a shutout victory.
