Sage Junction Fire 100% contained

HAMER, Idaho (KIFI/KIDK) - UPDATE 7/4/20: The Sage Junction Fire was contained on July 3 at 10 p.m. at 117 acres.

UPDATE 7:45 p.m. The Sage Junction Fire has burned 117 acres and is 80% contained.

The human-caused fire started Friday around 12:30 p.m four miles south of Hamer on BLM lands.

The cause is under investigation.

Full containment is expected Friday at 10 p.m.

Federal firefighters along with Hamer FD, West Jefferson FD, Roberts FD and Central FD were able to quickly stop the fire spread this afternoon.

ORIGINAL: A new fire has burned about 50 acres of rangeland about four miles south of Hamer.

The “Sage Junction Fire” started Friday afternoon. The cause is unknown.

A dozer line surrounds the fire, and firefighters are now mopping up.

Crews estimate full containment at 6 p.m.

BLM, USFS, Hamer Fire Department, Central Fire Department, West Jefferson Fire Department and Roberts are all on scene.

A “Very Large Air Tanker” is also assisting.
