Wildfire knocked down near South Fork subdivision

Fire officials said they’ve knocked down a wildfire that burned near a housing subdivision in Jefferson County on Sunday.

The fire was just to the east of Highway 20 at 663 North 4212 East behind South Fork Estates.The fire was burning in tall grass and burned two sheds behind a home, firefighters said.

It was extremely windy in the area of the blaze. Firefighters said it was helping and hurting their efforts. Luckily, the winds primarily pushed the flames toward the river.
