Police take back prescription drugs

Pocatello police collected more than 39 pounds of unused, unwanted or expired prescription medications Saturday. It was part of a federal Drug Enforcement Administration program aimed at keeping those drugs off the street.

Idaho State University pharmacy interns also participated in the Take Back Day, providing people with information about the safe storage and disposal of home medications.

Another Take Back Day is planned in April, but police said residents can drop off those prescription medications anytime during regular business hours in the lobby of the Pocatello and Chubbuck Police and Bannock County Sheriff’s departments.
