Rocky Mountain Power rate hike approved
Under an agreement reached last January, the Idaho Public Utilities Commission has approved the second year of a two-year rate increase for Rocky Mountain Power. Beginning January 1, 2013, Rocky Mountain Power customers will see a 5.4 percent increase for standard residential service. That is about $4.74 per month.
Customers on the company’s “time of use” rate will experience a 7.4 percent increase.
The overall increase for all customer classes is 5.4 percent. The first year increase, which took effect January 10, 2012 was 7.8 percent.
Rocky Mountain Power asked for a one-time, 15 percent rate hike in May 2011. A negotiated settlement in December cut that request by 48 percent.
