Scam targets local businesses

Scammers are targeting eastern Idaho businesses.

Business owners are receiving green envelopes in the mail from a company called Corporate Records Service, containing a so-called Annual Business Records Form.

The form asks for information plus a $125 fee to be paid by Feb. 13.

Idaho Secretary of State Ben Ysursa says this is a false notice. The official notice from the State Department looks like a small, yellow post card and does not require a fee.

If you get one of these phony forms in the mail, you’re asked to contact your local Better Business Bureau office for more information.
