Family shave heads to raise money for cancer research

St. Patrick’s day is more than a week away, but on Friday a local family took part in a St. Baldrick’s event.

The Duncan family shaved their heads at Billman’s restaurant in an effort to raise money for cancer research.

Sarah and Bobby Duncan say they weren’t able to make it to Boise for a big St. Baldrick’s Foundation event on Saturday, but hope to inspire family and friends to donate to the cause.

“It’s a really great cause. It’s something that is very special to all of us. We’ve all been affected by people that are close to us with cancer,” said Sarah.

Worldwide, 175-thousand children are diagnosed with cancer each year.

In the United States, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease.
