Theater puts on matinees for furloughed workers

One local theater is trying to make the government shutdown a little more positive for furloughed workers.

The Paramount Theater in Idaho Falls has decided to start showing movies for the workers. The owner, Kent Lott, said he will offer matinee shows to give the workers something to do.

Normally, Lott only runs afternoon shows in the summer time when kids are out of school. A friend of his came up with the idea and thought it would be fun to do.

“So we thought we should have some fun with this,” Lott said. “I know a lot of people are nervous about it, but we thought it would be fun to have matinees.”
