Hillcrest slips past Shelley in 4A District 6 play-in game

AMMON, Idaho (KIFI) - Hillcrest edged Shelley 2-1 to open the 4A District 6 baseball tournament on Tuesday. CJ Chastain struck out nine in five innings to lead the Knights.

The win advances the Knights to the next round where they will face the top seeded Skyline Grizzlies in a best of three series. It is scheduled to begin with a double header Thursday at Melaleuca Field. Game three, if necessary, will be Friday at Hillcrest High School.

Shelley's season comes to a close with the loss on Tuesday.
