Man accused of providing alcohol to teens appears in court

A man prosecutors say provided alcohol to teens involved in a deadly crash made his first court appearance Friday via closed-circuit television.

The crash claimed the life of 17-year-old Tiana Cardona on June 2 west of Idaho Falls.

Braxton Kelso is charged with dispensing alcohol to a minor, a charge Bonneville County Prosecuting Attorney Bruce Pickett said carries up to one year in jail and up to a $1,000 fine.

Since his arrest Thursday, Kelso has remained in the Bonneville County Jail on a $75,000 bond.

Judge Colin Luke set a preliminary bond-reduction hearing for later this month. Kelso will also appear back in court in July for a pretrial hearing.
