Dubois was capital for a day

Governor Butch Otter went to Dubois for the day. He and his cabinet members listened to the concerns the people have for the city.

People came with questions; many of them were about education, the sheep station and the grizzly and wolf populations. The primary concern was the sheep station.

The station almost closed down because the Department of Agriculture wanted to reallocate 1.5 million dollars to other agricultural needs. The chairman didn’t allow that to happen, so for now the station is up and running, continuing its research.

“It is the value we want them to concentrate on, you know. They think it is, for some reason, they think it’s just about sheep and sheep research. Well, number one that is a big industry to us in Idaho and the Pacific Northwest. The only other place we would be able to goto do the research we do here is Nebraska,” said Governor Butch Otter.
