District 25 partners with ISU to improve math curriculum

Tuesday the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 announced a partnership with Idaho State University’s Regional Mathematics Center to give math teachers some additional support.

The goal is for teachers to better understand math and the learning process so they can teach in ways that better help students learn math.

As part of the partnership, each teacher will get a half-day of coaching with one of ISU’s math coaches each year.

“Teachers already understand the math. We’re not saying they have to be taught mathematics, but just to think about it in a new way, and they’re excited to go in the classroom and share those things with the students,” said Jason Libberton, a regional mathematics specialist with ISU.
