Golfers hit the course in mid-February

Presidents Day is typically one of the biggest skiing days of the year, but with the unseasonably warm weather this February, some people were out enjoying other outdoor activities- like golf.

“This is wonderful out here. It’s a little breezy, but unseasonably nice weather. I can’t believe we’re out here golfing already,” said Bruce Dobson, who was out golfing today.

“This is crazy. Before this year the earliest we’ve ever opened the golf course is Feb 28, so I think we opened Feb. 12 this year, so it’s way early,” said assistant golf professional Tyson Bowen.

It’s not just the warmer temps that make this possible, it’s mainly because there isn’t any snow on the course.

“Last week it was in the 50’s for three days and the golf courses have been absolutely crowded,” Dobson said. “I think the whole town is suffering from cabin fever just a little teeny bit.”

Well, maybe not the whole town.

“I like the weather, you know, maybe down in the valley. I wish we had more snow up here though, so we could get more powder and such,” said skier Ryan Englis.
