Life-size George Washington statue in Pocatello
George Washington was recognized Tuesday in Pocatello.
The Idaho State Veterans Home gathered its members to honor each other and the nation’s first president.
An anonymous veteran gave the 6-foot, 2-inch statue to the home. It is made completely of marble and weighs nearly 900 pounds.
The people at the home said it is quite an honor.
“You know, recognizing George Washington as a veteran himself and what he did for his country and for each one of us,” said Josiah Dahlstrom, home administrator. “I think its neat to be able to associate that with the veterans we have in this home as well.”
The Idaho State Veterans Home wanted to extend its gratitude to all volunteers and the person who donated the statue.
