Indian Relay race season kicks off
Despite the rain, the Fort Hall Race Track was full of fans to see the start of racing season.
The Indian Relay races work a lot like Nascar races. Much like a pit stop in a Nascar race, a rider stops to hop onto a fresh horse after a lap. This is done twice during a race, which means there are three horses for each rider on the track.
The kick off included other races, like a youth relay and all-women’s race.
Fort Hall Indian Relay Association president Aaron Buckskin said he expects a good season.
“A lot of thrills, lot of spills and the way the weather is we’ll see how it goes,” said Buckskin. “We run in all types of weather.”
The next race is on June 6, you can go here for a full schedule.
