Bingham County signs on with Eastern Idaho Partnership
Bingham County commissioners voted Wednesday to approve an agreement in eastern Idaho that would let a U.S. attorney handle certain crimes.
The Eastern Idaho Partnership works with the state to appoint a special assistant U.S. attorney. The attorney would handle cases specifically related to drugs and gang violence and white-collar crimes.
This would also place criminals in federal prison.
The project will cost $90,000, the state is providing $60,000 of the total cost.
Cities and counties around the state will pay based on population size. For a breakdown of cost per county and city, click here.
