Civil Air Patrol evaluates safety of aircraft

With all the missing persons cases across the west, many man hours have been put in both on foot and in the air.

Many of those volunteers come from the civil air patrol.

The Civil Air Patrol works year-round.

Sending their air craft everywhere: finding missing people, missing planes, and helping out with natural disasters.

“Idaho gets a lot more activity than other states, just because we are a mountain based state,” said Mitzi Beshears, public affairs officer for the Civil Air Patrol.

Every two years air force representatives come to Idaho Falls for a formal evaluation.

“We also have a compliance inspection program, and we have several things that the air force to make sure that we’re doing our job and that we’re prepared to do our job,” said Mike Vorachek, incident commander of the Civil Air Patrol.

The Civil Air Patrol is made up of over 400 volunteers just in the state of Idaho.

Volunteers with the civil air patrol most recently found a missing aircraft near craters of the moon national monument.
