Idaho Falls Power to install LED lights

Starting Sunday night until Thursday morning, the city will be installing LED bulbs.

The area for this phase will include all street lights on 17th from Yellowstone to Woodruff avenue.

The work will start at 9p.m. and end at 7:30 a.m each day.

The project costs about $33,000 but with an incentive rebate from Bonneville Power Administration they’ll get about $12,00 back.

The lights will also save the city money each year.

“They’re going to save 80,000 kwH a year and it’s 10 cents [per] kwH and so they’re looking at, the city’s looking at saving $8,000 a year in energy savings,” said Wid Richie, conservation energy specialist with Idaho Falls Power.
