‘More in Store’ pop up event encourages teens to think about future
Getting teens talking and thinking about life after high school isn’t always easy, but the “More in Store” pop up experience at the fair is doing just that.
This is part of a statewide campaign funded by the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation.
“We are here talking to teens about their passions, and their future some people sell credit cards, some people sell junk food, we sell potential. We sell a future and it doesn’t cost a dime it’s totally free,” said Nick Groff a communications specialist for the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Family Foundation.
Organizers said Idaho’s “go on” rate, the number of students who move on to college, is the worst in the country. Their goal is to raise that rate.
Only high schoolers are admitted in.
Organizers said they want to help teens find out what their passions are, and how they can use that after high school.
“It’s not just the one plus one and the A, B, C’s,” Groff said. “It’s something we’re asking them to think about their future and their lives.”
