Corn maze brings in crowds

It’s the fourth annual Wild Adventure Corn Maze in Blackfoot. This year’s maze features Sacagawea and the explorers Lewis and Clark.

Taiya Cheney said, “Yes, we got lost a few times.”

“You know, I admit I do get lost,” said maze owner Richard Johnson. “My kids on the other hand, they know where to go, which turns to make. In fact, if people are lost they can go in and find them and get them out.”

“Well it’s really fun and if you get lost you can kind of like go around the outside edges,” said Kaidence Birch.

The family business, just off the Rose exit in Blackfoot, started out to save up money for furthering their children’s education, but it’s more than just earning money for college.

“They learn customer service here, taking tickets or serving food,” Johnson said. “They learn to interact with people, they learn to manage money, they learn how to create things. And basically help entertain people.”

Entertaining may be an understatement.

“We just wanted to come to a corn maze,” Cheney said. “We’ve had it on our bucket list for a while.”

“My favorite part is to hear the laughs, see the smiles. We’re in the fun business,” Johnson said.

This maze isn’t haunted for those of you that want to take your families. However, on Halloween they’ll shut off all the lights to make it a little spookier.
