GOP Candidate Carly Fiorina visits Idaho Falls
Another GOP presidential hopeful made their way to Idaho Falls today- this time, former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina.
In a town hall event for Melaleuca employees open to the public, Fiorina addressed several topics including balancing federal budgets, higher education costs, and health insurance.
“The federal government should mandate, that healthcare providers of all kinds publish on a regular basis their costs, their prices, and their outcomes,” said Fiorina.
Fiorina believes the reason costs are increasing in healthcare is due to the government reimbursing on costs, and patients don’t know if the healthcare they’re getting is the best in our area.
The presidential hopeful plans to utilize smart phones and other technology in the oval office as a way to engage the public in what’s going on Washington.
“Who here has a flip phone?” Fiorina asked, as the crowd laughed she said “You need to upgrade”
With a weekly presidential radio address, Fiorina wants the public to utilize smart phones to ask people to press numbers for whether or not they agree with actions being taken in Washington.
“The political process, your representatives, your congress people and your senators need to hear from you,” said Fiorina.
Fiorina says she plans to use technology to enhance the engagement with the public.
Another topic on the table dealt with finding a solution to the federal budget, to which Fiorina responded “in my first term in office I will submit a budget that balances within a decade.”
She didn’t go further into detail on what her budget balance plan entailed, but says student loans should be a more competitive market and Obamacare should be repealed
