Portneuf hosts “Be the Match”
Community Engagement Representative of the National Marrow Donor Program, John Philpott, along with nurses, kept the Bannock Creek Room open today for donors.
Donors were able to come in and perform a swab test, answer some questions, and see if they were compatible donors. They find out if they’re a match within a month. If not, they’re able to stay on a registry until the age of 61.
Philpott says there are thousands and thousands of cancer patients who’s lives depend on having someone donate.
The event is from 7a.m. to 7p.m., all are welcome to come in and donate. Donation is free to everyone that comes to the Bannock Creek Room, inside Portneuf Medical Center.
If you’d like to donate, you can also visit BeTheMatch.org for more information.
