City of Pocatello amid review of financial health

A “restructure” of city work departments is something Mayor Blad would hardly call it he says.

Over the next several months, the City’s Finance Dept. will be reviewing current fiscal policies to determine where the city stands financially in both the near and long term.

The review will touch on four main points such as service level, budgetary, cash, and long-term solvency. The city will also compare the city’s current health with similar cities.

“I don’t expect many big changes at all,” said Mayor Blad.

The review will ultimately determine what has worked and what hasn’t in these work departments.

Work departments will gather one at a time throughout Dec. and Jan. at the City Council to address work place needs or financial needs they may have.

Results of the review should be available prior to the development of the fiscal year 2017 budget.
