Bannock County prosecutor reponds to potential prostitution trend

In the wake of burglary charges against 25-year-old Chloe Marie Schutz and 30-year-old Cynthia Leshay Reichow, Bannock County Prosecutor Stephen Herzog was interviewed about a possible prostitution trend coming to Pocatello because of a secondary prostitution charge against Reichow.

“It’s not something we constantly deal with, but every once in a while,” said Herzog.

According to the Idaho State Journal, Reichow and Schutz stole shoes from the Big 5 Sporting Goods, and later linked from a prostitution advertisement.

Both girls were staying at Motel 6 in Pocatello where they were finally arrested. Their information was accidentally discarded on the ground near the sporting goods store. Which contained information for a recently purchased cellphone.

Pocatello Police also found a listing for Backpage.com – which led them to believe both women may be escorts.

The advertisement included photos of each women with a message that read: “Hey guys, I’m back in Poky and I brought a sexy friend.”

According an Associated Press report last year, Backpage.com is believed to be one of the leading sexual traffickers of children in the U.S.

In spite of this local news with Schutz and Reichow, Pocatello Prosecutor Stephen Herzog says he doesn’t believe Pocatello to be in any uprising trend for prostitution.

“All it takes is one or two instances of this, and you’ll be like, ‘hmmm.’ The more it’s investigated though, the more efficient officers will be in taking care of it.”
