Law enforcement investigates situation at Rigby Wendy’s

Rigby Police said Monday there was no criminal activity involved with an incident at Wendy’s Restaurant in Rigby Saturday night and no charges have been filed. They say the person involved in the incident was not shot with a firearm and investigators could find no sign that a firearm had been fired in the area.
Police said the man was apparently injured by something he had in his pocket. They are not sure what that was.
The man was treated for minor injuries and released from the hospital. He has had no further statement for police.

The man involved in the incident has been released from the hospital.

After further investigation, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office determined a shooting did not take place. Detective Sam Tower told Local News 8/KIDK Eyewitness News that it is still investigating what happened. The man was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time. However, officials say his injuries are not consistent with a gunshot wound. The Sheriff’s Office wants the community to know they are safe.

The Rigby Police Department and Jefferson County Sheriff’s office were called out to the Wendy’s restaurant Saturday evening.
A local official told Local News 8/KIDK Eyewitness News that a woman called dispatch, saying her boyfriend was shot in the leg. After further investigation, police deta shooting did not take place. Detective Sam Tower told Local News 8/KIDK Eyewitness News that it is still investigating what happened. The man was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time. However, officials say his injuries are not consistent with a gunshot wound.
Law enforcement blocked off the parking lot for hours. During our live on-scene report, police were seen examining the evidence.
The parking lot of Wendy’s was reopened around 10:30 p.m. Saturday night.
