Idaho Dems call on feds to investigate intimidation claims

Idaho Democratic Party Chairman Bert Marley says he has asked the U.S. Attorney’s office to investigate complaints of voter intimidation in northern Idaho.

Marley tells KTVB-TV that there are multiple reports of voter harassment in Bonner and Boundary counties that need to be addressed.

The Idaho Attorney General’s office is also reviewing similar claims of possible voter intimidation.

Party officials say they pulled a volunteer from campaign work in District 1 earlier this month. The district is largely made up of residents who support far-right Republican candidates.

According to police reports, the volunteer was approached at various times by people he believed to be supporters of GOP Rep. Heather Scott. He said they intimidated him by photographing his vehicle in town and at his rural residence in the middle of the night.

Scott denies the Democratic Party’s allegations, adding that the claims have been fabricated for a political agenda.
