Dads and father figures commit to being involved in kids’ lives
For the fourth year in a year, dads and father figures at Edahow Elementary pledged to be closely involved with their kids.
Tuesday marked this year’s kickoff event for Watch D.O.G.S., a nationwide school-based program. In it, dads and father figures commit themselves to being good role models to their kids by fostering education and safety.
Edahow Elementary’s program coordinator, Tavonte Jackson, said father figures are critical for kids at this age.
“These are the moments you don’t get back,” said Jackson. “Schools are turning the kids into young adults, they mature and grow here. Allowing their fathers to take an intimate role in that is really something special.”
At the event, the men were able to sign up to volunteer for a day at Edahow Elementary.
