Gibson sentenced to 15 years after Blackfoot crash
Dillon Grant Gibson of Blackfoot has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of vehicular manslaughter.
Gibson appeared before 7th District Judge Bruce Pickett in Blackfoot Tuesday.
Picket sentenced to Gibson a minimum term of 3 years fixed and 12 years indeterminate. He will get credit for 66 days of time-served.
Still to be decided is restitution for damages caused when Gibson crashed his 1999 Cadillac into the home of William Kay Hong at 490 Lilac Street in Blackfoot. The crash caused a fire that claimed Hong’s life.
Gibson admitted he was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
The Bingham County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking restitution of $515,919.36.
The amount will be finalized at another court hearing. That hearing date has not yet been set.
