Director of refugee center talks to community in Pocatello about supporting refugees

One of the hot topics in politics right now is the refugee crisis and what role the United States should play in this situation.

On Thursday, a member of the College of Southern Idaho Refugee Program spoke to a group of people at the local Rotary club. He said he knows there are political debates about this subject. But wants to remind the community, refugees are people too.

“Your actions as a member of the community, your actions as a leader in the community, we have to think about these are lives of people we are talking about and separate politics from humanitarian efforts,” said Zeze Rwasama, the CSI Refugee Director in Twin Falls.

Another group in Pocatello, called “Bridges” is working with incoming refugees. People in the community help teach refugees things like English or how to get certain work licenses
