Bear management restrictions start Friday in Yellowstone
Yellowstone National Park will begin to enforce restrictions in bear management areas beginning Friday. Park officials are concerned about locations where there is a high density of elk and bison carcasses in the wake of a hard winter and lots of bear activity. Some activities are limited in those areas to reduce encounters between bears and humans. There have been no confirmed bear sightings in the park so far this year. The majority of the closure areas surround Yellowstone Lake to the south, east, and northeast. Additional information on the closure areas is available here.
