Power completely restored after substation fire in Bonneville County
UPDATE 6:10 p.m.:
Rocky Mountain Power reports power has been fully restored after a fire at a substation near 25th East.
ORIGINAL STORY:
According to the Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, a substation/power plant exploded which caused a large fire, in downtown Idaho Falls.
Bonneville County’s Sgt. Lovell says it was Sugar Mill substation near 25th E and Mesa Drive.
The city of Idaho Falls said the fire is an isolated fire. They are waiting for power crews to arrive.
Rocky Mountain Power’s website says 16,160 people are affected by the power outage.
The cause of the explosion is still being investigated. Estimated restoration time is 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
