Head-on crash in Oregon kills Idaho Falls man, injures two others
An Idaho Falls man was killed and an Idaho Falls woman was injured in a two-vehicle head-on collision on SR 30 near Diamond Lake, Oregon Friday, June 30.
Police say 56-year-old William Hunter Houff and passenger 54-year-old Lisa Barnett Carr were driving in a 2006 Kia Amanti when 49-year-old Mark Andrew Root of Eagle Point in a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado drifted into Houff’s lane and collided with his vehicle.
Officials say it is unknown why Root drifted into the other lane.Houff suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene after lifesaving measured were performed.
Both Carr and Root suffered serious injuries.
Carr was transported by air ambulance to River Bend Hospital in Springfield, and Root was transported by air ambulance to Bend Hospital.
Officials say seat belts weren’t worn, and it is believed intoxicants are not a contributing factor.
